AMARASHILPI JAKANACHARI is a biographical drama on the legendary 12th-century Hoysala sculptor Jakanachari, tracing his rise as a master artist and the personal sacrifices bound to his devotion to art. Separated from his wife Manjari through royal intrigue, Jakanachari immerses himself in temple construction, unaware that his estranged son Dankanna has become a sculptor too. Their fateful encounter at the Belur Chennakeshava Temple leads to a moment of extreme penance and divine grace, culminating in reconciliation, redemption, and the triumph of faith and artistry.
“ಅಮರ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿ ಜಕಣಾಚಾರಿ” 12ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿ ಜಕಣಾಚಾರಿಯ ಜೀವನದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದ್ಭುತ ಕಲಾವಿದನಾಗಿ ಆತನ ಏಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ನಿಷ್ಟೆಗಾಗಿ ಆತ ಮಾಡಿದ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ತ್ಯಾಗಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ರಾಜನ ಆಸ್ಥಾನದ ಸಂಚಿನಿಂದಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿ ಮಂಜರಿಯಿಂದ ಬೇರೆಯಾಗುವ ಜಕಣಾಚಾರಿ, ತನ್ನ ದೂರವಾದ ಮಗ ಡಂಕಣ್ಣ ಕೂಡಾ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯದೇ ದೇವಾಲಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿಹೋಗುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಬೇಲೂರಿನ ಚೆನ್ನಕೇಶವ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಅದೃಷ್ಟವಶಾತ್ ಮುಖಾಮುಖಿಯು ತೀರಾ ಆಳವಾದ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಮತ್ತು ದೈವಾನುಗ್ರಹದ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿ, ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆ, ವಿಮೋಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಲೆಯ ವಿಜಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತ್ಯಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.

BINDIGANAVILE SRINIVAS IYENGAR RANGA (b. 1917–2010, Magadi Village, Mysore, Karnataka) was a pioneering Indian photographer, cinematographer, producer, and director whose career spanned over five decades across Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. Beginning as a self-taught photographer, he later founded VIKRAM PRODUCTIONS and VIKRAM STUDIOS. He directed and produced nearly 87 films, including landmarks like TENALI RAMAKRISHNA (1956), MAHISHASURA MARDINI (1959), and AMARASHILPI JAKKANACHARI (1964), the first Kannada colour film. A key collaborator of Dr. Rajkumar, Ranga won multiple President’s Awards and remains a cornerstone of South Indian film history.
