Set in the village, the story follows Ashoka, a carefree young man who commits an insolence. To escape the consequences and the prying eyes of the village, he fakes being possessed by a spirit. The villagers, led by the charismatic local "troubleshooter" Ravi Anna, misinterpret his antics and conclude he is possessed by Sulochana from Someshwara.
ಒಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಇದು- ಅಶೋಕ ಎಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೀದಾಸಾದಾ ಯುವಕನ ಒಂದು ಅಚಾತುರ್ಯದ ನಡವಳಿಕೆಯ ಪರಿಣಾಮದ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ನಡೆಯುವ ಕತೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ತನ್ನ ಕೃತ್ಯದ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಮತ್ತು ಊರವರ ಕುತೂಹಲಿ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗಲು ಆತ ದೆವ್ವ ಹಿಡಿದವನಂತೆ ನಾಟಕವಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಊರವರು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಮತ್ತು ವರ್ಚಸ್ವಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಾಯಕ ರವಿಯಣ್ಣನ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನ ಚರ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ಮಂತ್ರವಾದಿಯೊಬ್ಬನ ನೆರವಿನಿಂದ ಆತನ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ಸೋಮೇಶ್ವರದ ಸುಲೋಚನಾಳ ದೆವ್ವ ಹಿಡಿದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
