Kelly Reichardt (b. 1964), is an American filmmaker and screenwriter known for quiet, minimalist dramas. She studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and debuted with RIVER OF GRASS (1995), a Sundance-nominated critical favorite. After years making Super-8 shorts, she returned with OLD JOY (2006), the first American film to win the Tiger Award at IFFR. Her later work, marked by mood, landscape, and understated emotion, has earned major festival prizes, Golden Lion and Golden Bear nominations, and the Robby Müller Award at IFFR 2021.
