Azucena, a woman in her thirties, approaches Julio, a teenage boy living in a group home, for reasons he doesn’t understand. As they spend time together, an uneasy closeness grows, changing the shape of a bond neither expected to find.

Ana Cristina Barragán (b. 1987, Quito) is a screenwriter and film director. Her shorts include DOMINGO VIOLETA (2010) and AVE (2023). Her debut feature ALBA (2016) premiered at Rotterdam IFF, won multiple awards, received an Honorable Mention at San Sebastián IFF, earned over 35 international prizes, became Ecuador’s official Academy Awards submission, and was showcased at MoMA, New York. Her second feature, THE OCTOPUS SKIN (2022), premiered at San Sebastián IFF, screened at Thessaloniki, Guadalajara, and Munich IFFs, won six Colibrí Awards, and was selected for the 2024 Platino Awards. THE IVY is her third feature film.
